i finally got my car paid off and as me and my brother in law were driving it home we decided to pass my freind in his 05 cobalt and joey (my brother in law) downshifts to 3rd from 5thas we were goin like 55-60mph in 5th,it scared the crap outta me i thought it would redline but it went to like three grand lol we flew passed him doin maybe 110 in like two seconds. what i was wondering is, does that sound like stock grear ratio's? because there like super long it would probably do 120 in third because we were still in third when we passed him and never shifted.
so that kinda made me wonder is that normal? and the guy i bought it from said that nothing on the car is stock and that it was being built for drag cracing but wouldnt you want short gears to drag? idk let me know what you all think

Often times, when a car is sold they will tell you all kinds of bologna.

Sometimes it is true, and sometimes it is not.

I could see 2.73's getting close to 110-115 mph in 3rd gear.

Stock gears in the manuals were 2.73:1 and 3.08:1.

 

ok cool thanks man ill get a better pic of my engine soon.so you van see it cause i know the tranny isnt stock. i can tell by the way that it shifts and accelerates that its not.

 

i have 3.08's in mine and it tops out at 98 in 3rd at 5k 4th was 130 at 5k ran it on the dyno at school

 

nice, yeah im not sure what it has in it but its fu#&in fast!
im gonna bget mined dynoed on spring break in spokane.
