Default header paint

hey what color should i paint my headers? i got some bbk chrome longtubes, and chrome is purple and flaking with some rust spots, and i cant decide between white, black, silver, or like grey...they have other colors like blue, and orange and stuff but i think that would be a bit much...and i think im gunna go with vht unless there is something better

yea my dad votes silver too...the way i see it is, black will be the least visible, but they will hide the most...like if anything got on them you wouldnt really see it....the white is the most visible and hides the least, and silver is kind of in the middle...and i dont really plan on spilling anything or gettting anything on the headers when they are in so its a tough one....also, should i take like a wire brush and sander and strip all the chrome off and then base coat, and then top coat em?

I'd say silver or gray, I used VHT aluminum and it looks great I think. VHT is awesome paint.

No flaking or discoloring at all and there are about 2500 miles on them. You just have to make sure you don't put on too much or otherwise it could flake off. I picked up a can of it at a local parts store, the VHT website has a list of all the places in your area that sell their paint so just look up your zip. (edit: autozone sells VHT paint but they don't have all the types or colors but you may get lucky)

Like I said before I had bad luck with Duplicolor header paint but am very pleased with this stuff. Coulda just been bad luck though but the VHT is much higher temp.
