Build Advice
Fords don't have engine serial numbers. That's the reason you couldn't find one. Casting numbers are not serial numbers.
Whoever told you it was out of a Ranger doesn't know Fords, so don't listen to them about anything else regarding your car. The only Rangers that had factory V8s were the old full size pickups built in the 60s and 70s.
I have no idea what your engine is out of. Perhaps a full size passenger car like a Crown Vic. Someone here should know. If you know a Ford mechanic, he might. Don't bother with asking an auto parts store guy. A junk yard disasembler might know.

It doesnt match everything in my haynes manual but then again it covers a few years and engines and i have found many of the pictures to be inaccurate. lol and the picture is backwards, I print screened the photo to make the image smaller, and when i was getting rid of the borders, i forgot to flip it back horizontaly. oops. On another note, since it is a 5.0, the block will beok to build my engine? I want it to be reliable, and i dont want it to blow up on me obviously.
Is that primer black too slow? That looks bad ***, and thanks for the welcome! I still havent got much feedback on my power package question. Is it better to go with a power package like the one edelbrock or trickflow offers, or buy the parts indivually?
its flat black enamel shot wth an hvlp gun, and thanks!
, as for your power package, build it yourself, do alot of research before you pick parts, and take your time. you can easily make more power than a premade kit if you pick carefully, plus save alot of money.

maybe he meant its from a explorer, not ranger. if thats the case, its better than the 5.0 in our cars.
