How are you guys verifying miles. With most of us running non stock diameter tires.

As for miles per tank. I'm also confident we don't all fill up at the same time either. I used to fill up at (uncorrected) 480-500kms until I ran out one morning. Now I'm filling up before 400kms.

Either way. Judging by number of trips to work. I'm also getting poor mileage with my stock plus 3.73 gears Mustang.

There must be better ways to improve the et on a stock Mustang than to gear it up.

I just checked my mileage when I went to the dyno Wednesday and I got 16.1, but it was mostly highway miles getting down there. I did some city/highway driving before and got around 15.

it may be the way i drive or something because i get nothing close to whatevery body claims on here i only get around 160 to a tank at the max thats barelly 12-13mpg i just did fresh tuneup, fuel filter,160 thermostat, could the low thermostat be causing my poor gas mileage? because even if i baby the car for a whole tank i barelly get 160 to a tank. usually its 150 if im lucky

if you want to increase your gas mileage basically you have to drive like an old lady lol ... i asked the same question a while back and guys started telling me to shift around 2000 rpms and i thought that was insane ...now before this ive never seen over 150 miles to a tank .. so i thought id give it a shot .. im currently at 190 miles with a quarter tank left .. the only downfall is driving like an old lady sucks ....
my owners manual suggests this for best gas mileage
shifting 1st to second at 14mph
shifting 2nd to third at 25mph
shifting third to fourth at 36mph
shifting fourth to fifth at 45mph
it also says when switching to third or forth you may be going a little slower than those numbers to further increase fuel economy .. and when coming to a stop do not downshift .. put it in neutral and use the brakes ..
i couldnt believe it when i read that but it works .. i doubt ill ever hit 300 to a tank though those guys must be really light footed and thats not why i bought myself a mustang lol

You guys are all lucky, I get 13 mpg stop and go at all times. I did not buy the car for economical reasons.

ok some questions i have now after reading all.

forst off, sounds like not many are using the correct way to figure proper mileage, w/ any amount of guessing...you will get crazy numbers.

first off...you need to top off the fuel. completely, then reset your odo.

it doesn't matter how much gas you use (the more the better though) then top it back off again later on. but not getting any other gas, and not resetting your odo.

after you top it off, mark the miles (corrected if you don't have a correct speedo) and divide by gallons used to top it back off. (then reset your odo again)

i filled up today and although it seemed fairly empty, it only took 9.78 gals ti fill up....if i divided by the 15 that it holds, it would show poor mileage, and if i said wtf i only got 230 miles this tank that sux....both would be very wrong

so anyways.......light foot is def the key ingredient
