1990 GT Manual Transmission Upgrade Suggestions
Hey...
I've got a 1990 GT 5.0 manual transmission.. all stock except the air filter, struts an shocks.
I'm currently rebuilding the transmission and engine, but the cost of rebuilding the transmission is close to the cost of a new T5. Now i'm thinking of installing a new transmission and was wondering whether to get a new T5 or go for a TKO 500/3550. If anyones got suggestions or expereince in upgrading the transmission... or could reccommend other transmissions?, i would appreciate your feedback.
I don't have plans to upgrade the engine currently... however... will do so in due course.
Additionally, if i upgrade it to a TKO500/3550, do i need to change anything besides the bell housing.. and how would this upgrade effect the driving experience.. considering i still have a stock engine.

TKO requires new bell housing, different shifter, new clutch kit cause its 26 spline not 10, a different driveshaft yoke and you have to modify the crossmember

if you get the tko500 you can use the clutch you got now. it has the 10spline option. and the tko comes with a shifter. you just need the bellhousing and crossmember and yolk. i got the tko 500 and im likeing it...[sm=icon_rock.gif]

i got the pro 5.0 shifter for the tko. havent missed a shift yet! i like how it feels.. one of the reasons i didnt get the 600 is because of the long 1st gear. the 500 has a short gear. and if i want to later i can change the input shaft and other small things to make is a 600 and keep the short 1st... so i was told

Well i'll have to keep the pro 50 in mind. I'm not trying to hijack this thread but do's anyone else have any opinions for an aftermarket tko shifter?
