smog pump delete

RE: smog pump delete
1.) Thermactor plugs for the heads or 5/8" x 11 x 1" bolts
2.) A shorter belt (I perfer an idler... I don't want to change the belt wrap on the water pump).
That's about it as I recall... Oh.. You'll need something to cap the tube on your mid-pipe... It's ghetto, but I threaded a 5/8" bolt into mine.

In my case, they were a massive pain in the ***... The holes themselves aren't hard to get to, but getting the plugs threaded in was. The threads were all full of carbon (the threads are actually where the exhaust gases go through the heads) so I had to clean them out with a very small bottle brush, aka a disassembled battery terminal brush, carbon cleaner, and dentist picks for like 2 hours. There isn't enough room to get a tap in between the firewall and the back of the heads. Plus, since I had to use the trickflow plugs, I had to put (I think) 7/16" bolts inside them to get them tight.
My results may differ from others, but mine were a pain. Either way, its doable and still inexpensive.
Helpful links:
Battery brush like I'm talking about (bat brushes are good because usually they're stainless and firm bristled):

The plugs (you need 2 of these):

Other people have made block off plates instead of using the plugs or bolts. You can also take the cross over tube off, flip it over, and bolt it back on. So, there are other options, but dirty approach es to the problem. I took that crap off to clean my bay up, not ghetto rig my car (despite the short term ghetto rig on the X pipe with the bolt).
I'll also add that as far as I've ever heard on here, I'm the only person that had a HUGE pain of a time getting those plugs threaded into the heads. If you're lucky, I'm the sole exception to the rule.
