Fogged up headlights

RE: Fogged up headlights
yea, I was in the same boat as you. I've heard of guys using toothpaste. I gave it a try and it worked pretty well. I havent seen the meguiars stuff used so i cant really compare the two. But the toothpaste is a short term fix, they start tofog back up in a month or so...
but i agree with matt, dont waste your time. Just go buy new headlights, it will look amillion times better.

if toothpaste doesnt work at advanced auto parts they have a kit in a silver package that somewhat works with getting the yellowness out...and it doesnt require having a buffer...but id say only use that if your sure your going to be getting new ones...becuase ive heard that it will damage the headlights...thats the only reason i used it on mine was to try ot make it so i could see a little better until i had the money to order the new headlights i have now

RE: Fogged up headlights
I have done this on a couple dozen cars and the biggest problem I have seen it the Yellowing came back within a year on a few of them. I did it on my moms Acura about 2 Years ago an they still look good. But on the Taurus it looked like crap in 3 months. It is definately a hit an miss type of fix. It usally works OK but not perfect every time. The Toothpaste works as a starting point. Follow it up with I good platic polish like McGuires. Hand rubbing them out as the final step seems to get better results.
