Default Gears And Milage?

Does having different gears in the rear end mess up the millage on the odometer. Im wondering cause i was browsing ebay and theres a mustang with a 151,000 miles on it, but the poster says it realy only has about 120,000 miles do to having 373 gears? Is this right? And if thats true i guess that would mean that if you set you trip and went a certain distance you didnt realy go that far if you have different gears?

when you change the gears you have to change the speedo calibration also, otherwise yes the speedo and miles will higher than actual (assuming u go with a lower gear)
