Which shift kit??
Was wondering which shift kit I should go for??? Stock 1991AOD transmission, just looking to really firm up my shifts. Any brands or anything else to help firm up my tranny?? Thanks.
trans go shifts kits are suppose to be one of the best..i think summit sells it for like 130..i was goona use that kit but my transmission guy only wanted to use his kit..which is a brand name called superior..didnt know much about ...all i can say it made a HUGH difference love it..i can chirp first gear soo easy..but i would use trans go in your case..you wont be diappointed..
The most common errors are forgetting to install the shifter detent correctly, not torquing the valve body bolts, drilling a hole in the wrong spot, putting the check ***** in the wrong location, leaving gasket material on the Valve Body Plates and not having the valve body plate surfaces clean milled for straightness.
The springs are under alot of pressure, and installing the snap rings may be a pain.
If you want to do this, get plenty of brake cleaner, rags and prepare yourself, go real slow and ask question on here first, do not assume.
The average tanny shop will charge you $$300 kit, gaskets, oil, filter, labor and machining cost.

I've had good results with B&M. However I do add a spacer to the valve in bore 6 to raise the WOT shift points. B&M does not supply this part. I fabricate my own or you can get one from Baumann www.becontrols.com
Installation is not difficult but takes time and care. I think it's easy myself. Once the valve body is on the bench it is actually interesting and fun.
The gaskets come off clean. Don't lose the ***** or relief valves. Do one valve at a time.
I wear latex gloves but the ATF eats through them in about 10 minutes so I change often.

Thanks for all the input. Tranny is slightly starting to slip and goin to have it rebuilt so I thought it would be a good time for a shift kit. . .I'm goin to check into B&M but Im leaning towards trans go shift kit. Also think I'm goin to run the counsole mount B&M ratchet action shifter.
i have a transgo shift kit, had a few stop signs but it was pretty straight forwar, really firmed up the shifts, and i havnt had any problems after 2k miles of spirited driving
yea get a trans go, but the B&M only looks cool remeber that, yes it stops u from going from 1st to neutral by accident wiht the auto, but tis mostly for looks, doesnt really control it, ur engine and computer still tell it when to kick up or down
