I bought a 1988 GT from Kalifornia. I've been reading about the MAF/SD thing -'88 Cali GT's had MAF and I'm not looking to change that. But I'm wondering if there are other differences I could reverse? One mechanic said the distributor and computer were different. I know it wouldn't make a lot of difference but I'd like to unsmog it as much as reasonably possible.

Also, the first thing I'm doing is install a 3.73 gear - what kind of experiences have people had with that ? I plan to get the Summit kit with all the bearings and goodies - do I need anything else?

why would you even think of changing the maf to sd......?? anyway.....dizzy isn't different standard tfi dizzy I believe but if you want to do away with smog... then just remove it and take off the egr and block off the opening..they sell kits and the ecm will automatically delete the function

I want to buy your car!!! I have been looking for an unmolested 88 from California for over 2 years now. The first year factory Mass air is the exact thing I want. The closest I found was an 87' with an excellently done conversion, but the year has to be 88. I have a built 89 if you want to work some kind of deal. I also have a Cummins Dodge with a flatbed trailer that's ready to rack up some miles.
