supposedly ford did build 1 IRS fastback way back in the 60's, and after testing/deeming "useless" etc, they put the car in a garage somewhere and it supposedly still exists... wheter or not it does or if that was just a myth I have no idea.

i believe the cost issue was the biggest factor in not using the IRS in the 60's.I read an article about it too. I was thinking about doing the IRS conversion myself but after more research i decided not too. for way less money you can have a nice straight axle that can perform well in the twisties and even better in straght line performance. I believe the guys that road race with the IRS have to run a diff cooler (very expensive) because the exhaust runs so close to the diff, and can overheat it.
