What's the part called?

Default What's the part called?

The one on the very back of the transmission that has the hole for the shaft? It appears to be pressed into place. I leak a bit of fluid from there and want to replace it before I put it on the engine and get it back in.

That's probably it. I'm newer into this kinda automotive stuff. Still learning.

yeah it easy to do just jack the car up your gonna need a 12mm 12point to get the driveshaft bolts out then pull the shaft out of the tranny, the seal will pop out with a screwdriver or prybar etc then you just tap the new one in place evenly

It will be even easier, the engine and tranny is out of the car at the moment Got the engine rebuilt and I'm gettin it nice before I put it in.

ok just make sure to lube the seal before you put the d/s in so it wont be dry it will kill it quickly

Just an FYI if you go to a parts store, its called a rear main seal. Theyre like 5 bucks at any auto place.

rear main is the rear seal on the engine for the rear main bearing
