engine is pinging but not all the time
I have an 94 gt, no mods. I notice that the engine pings when the temperature is over 70 degrees, but not when it's cooler than that.Should I clean theMAF sensor? I just put new plugs and new filters about 1K ago. Car runs great, just the occasional pinging. Thanks.

a few things cause pinging...first excessive timing advance..if your's is still set at factory spec then cross that off, second crappy low octane gas can too.. but if you are using high test gas then there is another prob present, if you have no codes= check engine light not on and egr is functioning properly, then I'd lean towards excessive carbon build up in the cumbustion chambers or on top of the piston which will elevate cumbustion chamber temps causing detonation/ping, try a good induction clean or seafoam to resolve issue

timing set to factory. check eng light not on. I do use 87 but that's what the manual recommends. Should I switch to premium for a few tanks and see what happens? Why does it seem to happen more when it's warm?

Buy a can of seafoam, its like 7 bucks and it works wonders... I'd try to run premium with it too.. just to see if it changes it.... as for it happening when its warmer, i have no idea

Fuel ignites slower when its cold and faster when its hot. I got my car before winter and it did not ping, once spring came it did. I always wondered why many people on here run 14* timing on 87 Octane....cause they livewhere its colder than ****.
