Default 351W Block

Well, I couldn't help myself. I called in a favor to my father today and asked him to locate me a roller 351w. Well the old man called me back in about 3 minutes or less with a complete engine in a 1996 truck, all for $250. He told me that they would pull it and he would pick it up at their yard and store it in his shop for me untill I get there, it's in Ohio, I'm in Louisiana.

So tell me guys, beings as I won't be using 90% of the stock stuff, is there anything I can sell that would be of any value to the mustang swap guys. The engine still runs, just wore out from what I was told by my father, no knocks or pings. It's not supposed to be smoking either. I dunno the mialage of the truck, but as hard as it is to find one of these engines, I could give a crap about mialage.

I know I posted in the 351 section about this allready, but I went ahead and purchased it and just had to share my joy. I know I'm not supposed to double post so please moderator's you can delete my post in the 351 section. I can just ask the same questions in here. If it is ok by you guys.

Big Chris

The dizzy would be about the only thing I can think of.

Good buy, now what about the other engine?

The other engine, the 347 is in my car now as we speak, never been cranked. Will run it while I build this 351, not sure yet if I'm going to stroke this one or not. I don't know what the limits are on this engine block. I know it's better than my 302 stock blocked 347. The 351 engine will be my "No More Mr. Nice Guy". High compression, solid roller kinda deal. I been hearing alot of people talking smack around the house and if I wanna back myself up, looks like I am going to have to beef things up a bit. I wanna be low 10s on motor, then I can spray if I need the extra help. It's a dang shame when a N/A 347 Notch doesn't hardly scare anyone on the street these days.

What are the limits of a 96 model block with all forged internals?

What kind of heads are on the trucks? What are they worth?

Whats the dizzy worth beings as all parts are used like they are?

The heads aren't woth anything....they are the same as a stock mustang head, just have larger head bolt holes in them to work in the 351.

The dizzy should bring anywhere from 25 to 50 on ebay. A lot of people would be interested if they will be doing a 351 swap and plan on keeping the EFI.

When I got my 96 351 block, I took everything off it and scrapped it all...cam, intake, waterpump, manifolds, heads, flywheel, balancer..... I only kept the lifters, dogbones and hold down, dizzy, rods, crank and block. One of these days, maybe I will build mine.

I'm not scared to haul something to the scrap yard and gets me some money for junk iron. I hauled two different trucks about 3 weeks ago and got right at $800 bucks for them. Two trips, about 40 miles total traveled for both runs.

Back to the question I last posted. What are the limits of the production 351 roller blocks?
