Do the GT40 Heads also come in the V6 Explorers/Mountaneers or only in the V8's?

And is there a difference between GT40 and GT40P, or is it the same thing?

 

v8 heads are not interchangable with v6 heads,

and yes, i believe gt40p are the impproved and then gt40x another step up

 

Well seeing as the GT-40 head was made for V-8's, it probably wouldn't fit on a V6 that well.

There is a difference between the 40's and the 40p's, The chamber is cast slightly different to promote swirling of the air so that they flow slightly better while using smaller valves. HP-wise they are pretty much the same but the 40p's require a special header to fit due to the spark plug placement.

 

On what years Explorers/Mountaneers did they come in?

 

up to 97.5 model year then switch to P's can'r remember what year they started?? 94?? 95??
