Is K-Frame in 4 cylinder the same as a 5.0??
I need a new K-Frame and also a 5 speedtransmission for my 89' 5.0 LX. My buddy has an 89' 4 cylinder car in his garage that he just wants to get rid of. I'd be interested in just taking the whole car from him if I could use his k frame and transmission. So my question is:
are the k frames and 5 speedtransmissions in the 4 cylinder cars the same as the ones in the 5.0 cars??

no, i dont think they are, however the T5's from 4 bangers have lower gearing, and can be swapped in, no mods, theyre fairly popular in drag racers i believe
the K member has different motor mounts IIRC

k-member is the same but tranny is not..4cyl has smaller input shaft tip diameter and is rated at less torque capacity but with right pilot bearing it'll work in a 5.0

Thing is, I did actually call ford and they told me that the k-member WAS NOT the same, but the girl I talked to did not seem very reliable. Reguardless of where she got her answer from, I told her I have a 5.0 mustang and she asked me if that was a 6 cylinder.....so yeah, I can't trust what she has told me.

yes the 4 is the same as the 8 there may be a extra mount (some of the older cars) on the 4cly. mount that bolts to the k-member but it just unbolts and the 5.0 stuff slides right in.

+1 get it it will work along with the transmission if you get the right pilot bearing
