Can someone tell me where the dipstick tube is located on a 1983 5.0 motor, and can it be relocated.

I've been told 3 different things. It's on the side of the block (drivers side), on the timing chain cover (lower passenger side), and that it's on the oil pan.

There is a threaded plug in a notched area on the side of the block (driver side). The fact that it's threaded is a problem.

Didn't see anything on the timing cover.

I put a front sump oil pan (not sure what year the pan is) on the motor to fit in the 67.

I'm thinking my best option is to buy an oil pan with the dip tube access. However the only one's i've seen are rear sump.

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to go on this?

yes I know what your prob is........on an 83 the dipstick tube access hole is in the block on driverside...someone most likely blocked it off with a threaded plug, however since you are putting the motor in a 67 location is not applicable, you need to swap over the timing cover to one with the dipstick tube access in it. also make sure you are using correct flexplate/flywheel as you need 50 oz stuff
