Lot's of people run power adders on a stock block stroker engine. If he has the block prepped and mp tested for cracks and they don't think the block will work, then he could upgrade to a dart or boss block. But if the block is weak, it doen't matter if hes making 500hp from a blown 302, 500hp from a high compression 347 stroker, or 500hp from a boosted low compression 347 stroker. Broken is broken.

If he goes the 351 route there are a few new considerations that have to be addressed. Now he has to get a new hood so it will clear. New hood will need paint. Can they match the car, or does the whole car need paint so it matches. Now you have to make the tranny work with the 351. I don't know all of the ends and outs (new motor mounts, etc.) but it's a whole nother ball of wax.

indeed, and very valid points.

but in my own opinion, a 351 is the best "bang for the buck" as far as being able to take alot of abuse, even wth the issues, such as the oil pan, carb vs ECU etc

I would do the S/C now and build a 347 with a good block later down the road. you may find that with just the S/C you are happy.

all ready painted the hood, and both 1/4's due to rust and dents did a pretty good job at matching it to for my first time!
but i am leaning away from the 351 now just cause its another 90 pounds on the front end, and i would have to buy new headers, hood, and a few other things to make it fit (which i really dont want to do)

good heads and small cam with 12psi. and you could run some low 11s to high 10s I did and did it with a stock block.crank and rods for 4 years.

exactly. if i remember right your pretty young aren't you? my stroker made 313 horse and i was very happy with the power i felt, but i'm also 19, i havn't been in anything else with more ***** then my car other than full drag cars. it would of satisfied me for quite a while and if i ever wanted more i woulda just threw gas at it. i think its smarter to get the s/c and atleast a nice gt40 set up and it'll give you nice numbers. then if you want more build a bullet proof shortblock and crank up the boost. and get ready for a wild ride haha.

dart block 347 and some spray or boost and hello 9's if u can drive ..lol.

and agreed the 4.30's are way too much for a super setup unless u like having no traction and buying lots of tires.

making reliable hp is not just bolt and go, the lower et you achieve the more money it will cost to maintain reliability, such as tranny and drivetrain parts
