also you'll need the double valve spring set up and on the heads you have the guides will most likely need to be machined to accept and clear the springs for positive type valve seals

well they cost 110 dollars to get them from the bone yard. then they have to be machined on top of that and potentially may give me less power. i already have these 289 heads(not 351), i dont have to search, search, search and then remove them from the vehicle when i find them finally. i already have the machining priced out by a friend at a machine shop here locally and its cheap

if there are any raised portions on the seats or stepped portions better said then they may interfere with the spring sitting flush, also the pocket may not be wide enough onnthe 289 heads, you'll have to check when you disassemble them, also you'll need to install them at the correct height when proper pressure is achieved so a spring pressure checker is a must when properly setting up the valvetrain, a machine shop should be able to make things work or tell you if any extra work is needed to make them work, I'm just going offf of what I have run into in the past

cheap shouldn't be your concern, having them set up properly should be and I'd have the guides macnined for positive type seals
when you spray that puppy coupled with the high rpm's and excessive cylinder pressures generated by NO2...if the springs aren't set up right a valve flutters open when it shouldn't you can expect one heck of a NO2 backfire and if large enough it can blow gaskets and even an intake off

i was comparing my springs vs the ones suggested for that cam for the hyd. roller.

my specs are seating pressue 110lbs and open pressue 240lbs

the ones recommended with that cam are seating pressure 121lbs and open 343lbs

are those differences very significant or not enough to matter? any problems with running my single spring?

i meant cheap as in a friend is doing them and isnt charging me a ton to do it. we've been friends for a long time so its not at regular shop rate. they'll be set up properly i guess im asking more on the grounds of i'd like to learn how and why things are done.
