OK, I just spoke w/ this guy........
"Hey guys my name is Rick I am the Mgr of Downs Ford Motorsport. The M onthe end of the part number means they werebuilt by Motive gear. I have also had issues with whine noise's. What I been doing is having anyone who purchase's the gears with M at the end of the number go onto Motive gear site and download the motive gear install instructions they seam to differ from the Ford set up a little which I have found makes the difference so their is no Whine from the rear. Any question feel free to call me at 1-732-349-2240 ext 958 ask for Rick"
I def have Ford gears. They are not marking them like they used to. No "M" in my part #, they are NOT Motives! What a relief!!
Thanks for all the help guys!!

IMHO (and no, I've never set up a rear end, just work on machine tools for a living) assuming that the parts are manufactured correctly (not warped, teeth cut correctly etc) I'd have to say it was installer error that would cause whine. Like Rick said, even if the gear is going in the same place, FRPP/FMS has a way that works for THEIR parts, and Motive has a procedure that works for their parts. I see it all the time at work: same part, does the same thing, goes in the same place, but variations mean that I have to do the install differently >shrugs<
