Default Explorer motor worth 200 bucks?

Hey I ran into my old high school tech teacher today and he's got a complete explorer gt40 motor said he would lket me have it for 200 bucks. Is it worth it. Also what all parts are n upgrade from the stock 5.0? Cam heads intake, maybe tb . Ill find out what year it is when I go look at ir. This will be for my brothers 91 notch stock with exhaust and 3.73s

If it's a true gt40 engine (late '95 to early '97 iirc), yes, it's easily worth it if it's in decent condition. Heads and intakes will fit. Don't think the tb will and I'm not sure on the cam.

the year for gtp heads are 1997 1/4. shoot, id'e pay three times that for that motor! even if its not gtp heads you still have a good motor to build from. the cam is different from a cobra's though.

i paid 200$ for my explorer motor, the cam is really mild but buy a letter cam and install it and you have a budget cobra motor. the throttle body can be adapted to work on a 5.0
