Default Oil Pressure Issues

I am completely stumped here.
so long story short, my mustang is leaking oil out the pan seal up front.
i went to replace the gasket (while still in the car), and i had to remove the oil pump to get the one piece in place. well now everything is back together, and not to my surprise it is still leaking, but after about half an hour of driving it the oil pressure started to drop, and now i get none. ran a primer tool on it for a while and it reads fine, but put the distributor back on and it cant sustain the pressure. pulled the pan again to make sure the pickup and pump were sealing and they are. what could be wrong with this thing? why wont it make pressure?

how many miles on your engine? maybe your main bearings are worn out. The oil leak is from the front oil pan gasket or the front crank seal? ck oil pressure with a gauge first before you do anything else.

well i forgot to mention that we hooked up my roommates Autometer gauge and sending unit to check if mine was bad. it was reading the same. my buddy thinks the tolerances in the oil pump and the spring might be bad.
i have no idea how many miles are on the engine, guy before me swapped a junkyard motor in. so we are replacing the whole pump and seeing if that fixes it.
if it does Bowling Green here i come.
