You are putting undue stress on your main bearings if that balancer is wobbling, don't drive it anymore

i honestly can't tell you how many times i've done that. last weekend taking the balancer off my explorer i broke two pullers before i realized i was doing it again (man did i feel dumb, especially since it wasn't the first time). sometimes you can put a smaller bolt in the hole and push against that.

Took a look at the harm balancer and I don't see any "wobble". Any other way to test it?

A friend told me it could just be a "miss". I had a spark plug wire grounding out in my Expedition so I know what a "miss" feels and sounds like, since it does it from the lowest rpm up. This vibration is only above 1800 rpm.

Well, wasn't the harmonic balancer. I'm really stumped. Any way it could be the torque converter? The tranny is definitely ailing as it slips when you get on it.

hey dont even worry about the washer, just remember to put the litle cone shaped bushing on the end of the puller, i had mine thread into the snout of the crank of my friends engine..... i felt like an idiot, luckily we were getting a new crank anyway

but yeah, an impact wrench works nicely for the install
