couple new paint questions...
#33
Here is a break down of my cost, I got all my stuff from my body shop and a local supplier with a good buddy discount.
Base-$130 per quart(took just about 4 to do a complete color change)
Sealer-$100 for a gallon
Primer kit-$100 with hardener
Clear-$110 for a gallon
Then sand paper, tape, fillers is where it gets you...
Roll of stick it block paper-$40 (I got 2, 180 and 320)
DA paper-$40 (3 boxes 3m stuff, 180, 220 and 400)
Tape- bunch of rolls $20
Fillers-$20(for light weight filler, need 2)
Not to mention the seam sealer, etch primers, butal tape, 2 sidded tape to put the moldings back on, trim paint.
All in all I had close to $1000 just in materials to do it "right"
I did everything myself, tear down, primer, block, filler, cut in. Went to the shop completely ready. Then I payed my body shop to spray it -$1000
Then you have glass removal and installation, door pins, door handles, new hardware, badges, and what ever else you want new.....easy few hundered bucks
I had well over $2500 into my paint job doing it right and myself for the most part. If I would have paid for all the labor at say $40 an hour, I could have easily seen a $4500 bill if I just droped it off and picked it up.
With that said, I do have a lot of stuff left over, and my next paint job I wont have to buy a bunch of the stuff I had to buy.
