Default couple new paint questions...

Ive been calling around and trying to find a place that does full paint jobs for a color change. Now my question is if I remove the front bumper, headlights, hood, emblems, cowl grille, wiper moldings, all weatherstriping, roof rails, mirrors, doors, moldings on doors, door handles, quarter windows, hatch, rear bumper, and gas door would that make it a decent amount cheaper or is it not even worth doing it? Ive gotten estimates from 3k-6k.

Wouldn't that be a question to ask the body shop? How are we to know how much less someone else is going to charge?

3-6k seems very high for a paint job. Are you doing anything custom? Just to blast primer and do a single color shouldnt be more then a few hundred (700-900). once you start getting into pin stripes, racing stripes, and custom work thats when you will start adding some bigger digits.

Also keep in mind if you find a place that quotes you a super low price, they more then likely do not tape of the locks and open the doors and hoods and paint under them and paint the hendges. If you want it done right it is going to cost you around a grand. And thats for a single color with no metalics or anything special.

When i bought my car 6 years ago it had a 4k paint job (i had the reciept) and i was show room quality, but over the years and the wrecks which have never been my fault has ruined the paint. blended here, blended there, then i got it repainted for 1k, its not the best work but it catches eyes. luckily i just met up with my old boss the other day who has workers that will repaint my car 400 bucks for a 1k job or 1000 bucks for a 4k job. i'm gonna take them a side skirt and see what the quality is. sorry for the rant. good luck with the paint

Default second thought

on second thought i think LeMans blue might be a better choice...it would just be a base coat and clear coat, how do you guys think it would look on my GT?

I dig the arrival blue much better! So get the lemans so i can get the arrival I would be willing to bet for a true gm color it will cost quite abit more. But a single color with clear done right where they paint the underside and latches shouldnt be mre then 1500-2000. Thats them doing all prep work, priming, base coat, and clear. And doing it right. not half *** painting over keylocks and trim like you get when you go to bs places like maaco
