Default 8.8 Rebuild HELP!

I have tried searching with no success. I need to know some info on my rear...

Situation: One wheel Peel
Car: 1989 Ford Mustang GT M5

I know it is the 8.8 rear, but I am not sure what rebuild kit I need to refresh my limited slip. I am assuming it is a 28 spline, but let me know if I am wrong.

What do I need? Threads on rebuilds would really help, as would links to rebuild kits you would suggest. I am also thinking I may want to replace the bearings also.

Please let me know what I need.

Also, how hard is it to install 3.73 gears while I am at it? How hard is it getting them spaced correctly to eliminate the howling?

Thanks!

I cant help you on the limited slip rebuild. But i recently had a set of gears installed, after asking around about how to install them i was told that if you havent done it before its a job left to a shop. It cost me 200 to have a shop rebuild my rearend and install my gears for me.

unless your prepared to spend money to purchase inch lbs turning torque wrench, dial indicator and have a bearing press and bearing removal clamp then pay someone to do it, the tools will add up to more than what it costs to pay someone to do it, you need to know how to read patterns, how to set pinion depth and check for backlash, if you've never attempted such a job or seen it done, I wouldn't reccommend it for the beginneer

I would recommend for a shop to do it since you have never done one before. $200 does not sound like a bad price. Also you can go to Steeda's website and look up the level of difficulty and the amount of time required to install the part. Here is a link. http://www.steeda.com/products/ring_pinion_sets.php

Go w/ the carbon fiber kit from Summit. Here is an article

As already stated, you should have a shop do the gears but the o/h of the trac lok is fairly simple.

you can learn to do it on your own. he's right, you will have to buy some tools though. when i shopped around the price was around $350. i read a lot, bought the tools i need, and took my time. no problems, no noise. in the end i got new tools and learned something in the process. however there is something to be said for paying someone else to do it, it gets done quicker and it comes with a guarantee.
