Exclamation Cobra brake conversion

I am in the process of collecting parts for a 5 lug swap on a 89 4cyl. I bought a complete 95 8.8 RE today complete with disks and all the trimmings but now I'm shopping for the fronts. I'm looking hard a few peices but I am a little confused on the years that are a direct replacement. I'm thinking I want to do the Cobra brakes even though that will mean 17" or larger wheels. So 2 questions what years are direct replacement? And is the Cobra swap really worth it on a strip strip car?

I put a Cobra brake kit on my wifes 03 GT. The differance is astonishing against the DT brakes which wernt bad. I think on a strip car you may wn't to go smaller so you can use lightweight 15 inch wheels. You could prob save 50 lbs overall on the nose but going with 11 inch brakes and 15 inch light weight wheels and tires. Not seeing street duty (strip/strip) I wouldn't want the extra weight but on the street you can't have enough brakes.

Yes you will have to run 17 inch wheel. you need 96+ spindles I believe though. And maybe he meant stree/strip? Never seen anybody express their car as strip/strip?

I got confused. I looked on carquest website and gt rotors were $25 and cobra rotors were $44, I don't know why they are so much more. Know thats one more thing I want for my car but I gonna wait til these brakes I have need replaced.

i have a 90 LX and put 96 spindles and 13" cobra brakes on it because i like road courses. for a strip car, go light weight. 11" rotors will do you good. buy a good set of pads like Hawk HPS and you will slow down fine even if you make your 4 banger go fast. (any some of them will)
