Default distributor

Hey there everybody, it has been awhile but I have ran into some new issues with the car. My distributor is making the wierdest noise right now. I am positive this noise is coming from the distributor but i have no idea what it could be! Its hard to describe the noise but is like a whinning siren type of noise! I was looking at the distributor and it wasnt doing it so I reved the car up and at about 3000rpm it started making the horrible noise. Can somebody help me please!

pop open the cap. maybe too much carbon buildup between the cap and rotor? if you havnt changed them in the last 2 years you should do that anyway (tune up)

I took everything in the distributor apart and nothing looked bad. There was some dust and dirt but nothing really that would seem like it would make this bad of a noise. It almost looks like the cap jumps right as the noise starts.

It could be the oil pump is going bad. When the oil pump on SBF engines start going bad they will vibrate the dist. Check your oil to make sure it's not low. It could also be the bushing in the dist going bad.

^^^^just make sure you mark the rotor position on the base cap so when you transfer it to the other dizzy it'll make reference install easier
