Breather Caps?????

Any benefit to having one on a stock 50 engine besides them looking cool ?

what do they actually do ? and can anyone recommend a decent one ?

Nope,

they allow the gases/pressure to vent into the atmosphere.

your pcv system is sufficient, no need for a breather

An open breather on a setup with a functional PCV, will cause a vacuum leak condition (unmetered air) that affects the EEC fuel trim corrections.

they can also blow some oil vapors out somtimes and that tends to make a lil mess
