Default Powerdyne or Vortech?

I have a 93 triple white convt. I don't really want to chop it up by putting heads on it, just in case I want to sell it one day. I found a new 9lb. powerdyne system with a fuel pump for 1650 to my door. Also vortech is running that deal for 1549 for the 6lb unit. My friend has the paxton 6lb unit and does not particularly like it. His car is automatic though. He said a 5-speed felt different with the same blower. A five speed seems a lot faster to me anyway so, I don't know how much of a difference he can really tell. What do you think? Should I wait for a used Kenne Bell? A belt for a powerdyne every 50000 doesn't seem like that big of an ordeal. I have only put 6000 on it in the last year.

I just don't want to get the Vortech and run 4lbs of boost at 5000 rpm like he is.

I'm not impressed with powerdynes... But I am impressed with Nitrous! And its so much cheaper even spraying 75hp feels a boat load better then a 6lb powerdyne...

I've had both a P'dyne & Vortech (S, R & T Trim)...For the streets the Powerdyne is excellent SC, simple to install (about 2 hours and your having fun!) ....I've taken some heat in the past with a P'dyne...But they work...did run 11.21 @ 122 with 9#'s boost, Edelbrock 6022 heads, STOCK cam & Cobra Intake with my 1991 Mustang GT...Vortech is a can't go wrong SC! ...with the T-trim I went 10.51 @ 132.3 ...my GT needed lower gears (3.55's) & and a C4...

powerdyne is garbage! they make boost and add hp but they also fail often and have been known to have impellers explode sending shrapnel into the motor

this can happen with any SC! ...seen SC's explode with a Vortech, Paxton and ProCharger right at the track, and yes, engines lost!

i would personally go with the vortech, i used to have a aod, until it went boom, and i swapped in a tko 600. THe 5 speed feels WAY faster, and i had a shift kit in it,
If you want more boost, its just a pulley swap away!

One thing about the Vortech is, I don't think I would have to add a fuel pump with only 6lbs. The Powerdyne comes with one. I have put fuel pumps in cars before but, never a mustang. I assume they are not like the camaros where the rear end has to come out. It still seems like a hassle though. Also a chip doesn't come with the Powerdyne. That motor doesn't have forged pistons so, I don't want a slip up with fuel or time. 9lbs maybe more than I want to get into and 6lbs seems like a waste of money. I am not worried about the 5-speed because I have another that won't break at that power. It will never see the track so, I should probably leave it alone. It would still be nice to brag about having the fastest convt. in my town. Even if it is the only one in my town.
