331 Stroker in my near future...maybe (advice pls)
Hello! (originally posted in the newb section)
I am happy to find this site. It looks like a lot of you members know what your talking about. I have been lurking for a few days now LOL.
I need advice...
A friend of mine is selling a 1993 GT with a profesionally fully rebuilt 331 stroker. All done with the original block. 5k miles on the rebuild too. It has all the goodies a 12+ second car should have. The paint is new and the wheels are 17 inch Saleen deep dish. Full exhaust, Edelbrock 750 carb, and fully adjustable suspension just to name a few of the mods.
Is 7k a good deal? If I purchase it I will need to add an AC compressor/condensor...and a heater core as well. I believe it may need a new LSD and u-joints (just for my peace of mind) but not 100% sure. It's going to be daily driven so lowering the HP with the creature comforts is not a biggie to me. If I need more power later I'll just put some bigger AFR heads on.
Thanks in adavnce!

Well, here in Cali I paid 4700 for mine bone stock, and with mods and such spent upwards of 8K+ minimum. So if it really is in good shape and the motor is strong with no problems, i'd say 7k isn't a bad deal.

A 12 second stock 302 is an impossibility where I live...4000 + or - a few ft above sea level
Anyhoo, he is having some traction problems as well. Spinning well into 2nd gear lowers a 1/4 mile ET a bit.
He's got 8k in mods and he purchased it stock for around 4500. I see more pro's in paying 7k than con's. It does saves me from having to do all the work LOL...but that's half the fun too...con.
Meh...I dunno

to build such a car you'll often spend way more than the person selling you one ready to go......a properly though out 302 can run 12's and 11's easy at high altitude, just depends on what you use in the build I used to live in utah 4500+ and a few friends had 12 sec 302 mustangs no prob
