more trans. help

Default more trans. help

this new car of mine won't go into 2nd except on rare occasions and the when goin into 5th gear it grinds everytime.To tell you the truth I still think it has the stock tranny fluid
would it help any to change the fluid(I'm doin it anyway tho along with the oil)Like helping it go into 2nd or do you think it just needs a rebuild thanks anyways tho

any RPM or high RPMS will it not go into those gears?

in 2nd every now and again if I'm stopped at a red light or something I can get it to go in and it always goes into 5th just grinds as your goin into it

I would check the clutch. I think there are teeth on the front of a gear that if not in tact will keep you from going in a gear. It could just need sychros.

yea ethan, sounds like you got another fun project of a trans. if it goes into all other gears fine except those two you'll probably need to pop that bad boy open and rebuild another.

The tko that i bought was grinding going into 4th gear. When we pulled the clutch we seen why. It didn't have one.

I think I'll just take the top shaft out of one of the t-5's around here and stick into that one out of the 91

if you can't get it in any gear while it's running but no problem when it'soff, I'd check the pilot bearing it may be siezed on the input shaft tip
