93 mustang won't redline

If it won't go past 5200 in Neutral (That redneck dyno will kill it) but still reach it in gear it isn't running out of fuel. You could have some deposits on the back of the valves, weak valve springs, wrong valve springs or as was said before an inacurate tach. You could hook up an external tach such as a timing light with built in tach (I have a Snap-On with that feature) just to verify that part of it. Check the timing to make sure it's correct. If it still has the factory exhaust you may want to pull out the O2 sensors and check to see if you are building pressure before the converters.

I have an after market tach. I will give it a shot. I will get my mechanic to do the test. He may charge me this time. We haven't been to the casino in a while.
The exhasut will be done. I was just going to get some flowmasters welded in but, now I am thinking headers with kit. I like the way the pipes look now though. Something has got to be done. People say it sounds good and try to buy it. I don't tell them its running factory ford glasspacks.lol

WELL being that you don't know the history of the motor internals, who knows if it's matched meaning cam and springs and rocker arm geometry properly set....if you plan to add a S/C , I'd verify the internals but you know what that'll take.......

The blower came with a cobra intake. I will check the rockers when I put it on. I guess I could check to see if the springs are at the right then. The cam i would rather not pull out. I would think someone would put rockers on before a cam if that was the only mod they were going to perform. It just seems easier. Also, this car by carfax was babied. I would think someone that is going to put a cam in would have the right springs put on. I could be wrong though. If it was me, I would put a throttle body on before a cam. That is me though.
I will drive it back to work and see what it actually does rev to. I haven't launched it at 5000 since I bought it.

Well aparantly if I let it get up to operating temp then hammer it, the problem goes away. It hit 6000 and low 90s in third gear.
So...maybe the fuel pump is going bad?
It cold started and it is 60 degrees outside. Could that be related?

I want to put a 1.5 kb on it with a 4lb pully and fmu. If my car won't get enough fuel stock to hit 5300 rpm now, I don't need to add the blower. I will never turn it over 5 grand with the blower.

I have heard of cars picking up 5 tenths just by changing the fuel pump. I am going to try this and see what happens. I will let you all know in a couple of weeks. Just about the time I will be putting the blower on. (if this works)
