top fuel dont use turbos cause they finish the quarter mile too quickly. HOWEVER that may be changing in a few years. they are experimenting with turbos on funny cars right now. they are far superior to the roots style blower that the top fueler/funny cars use. just how to make them work within 3 1/2 seconds is kind of tough.
**did you know that the entire 1320 feet they are traveling down the track the tires are spinning the entire time? then only catch traction every other 1/8 turn of the tire. thats how fast those things are, they can barely hold the trackas is, any faster and they'd have to change the car design/gearing/tires or soemthing**
back on topic. you are driving cars that are poorly designed. if you select a turbo to matches your gearing/tires size/C.I. size. otherwise, yes it would be sluggish and unpredictable up until full boost. the cars that you've driven are poorly planned out. you have major mis-onceptions about a turbo car based on poor examples youve experienced.

I am sure if you went and talked to Saab, Audi, and Subaru (the cars which I have driven that are turboed) they would adamantly disagree with you that they are poorly planned out as they were in factory form.
I dont know where you are getting that top fuel doesnt use a "blower", those "hemis" are all supercharged. Turbos are not a new invention, actually they are older than superchargers. They have been expiremented with and disgarded. There are two reasons they are being reintroduced, A. Everyone who hears turbo thinks its the end of the world as far as power is concerned. and B. There are many more teams today than there were the last time this was tried. The turbo is cheeper to instal and disgard/maintain than the "big" superchargers that most mainstreem teams use.
There is an obvious reason they are not used, like you mentioned. They also are unsafe, especially on a low et/high mph vehicle. If the car gets out of the grove or looses the tires and there is any goosing of the throttle, you are not going to have any control with the turbo. Its just an inferior product to a supercharger, though I am sure many people will disagree. That's their oppinion, this is mine. (Mine is closer to reality though
)Anyways, Im not here to start a pissing contest. I just wanted to state my oppinion.

cause guess what, i have never had ANY kind of problems in traffic, ill weather, or whatever else you were talking about. The car is GREAT there isnt any turbo lag that can be felt

nvm you quoted it before i caught my mistake. i meant to say turbos. you can verify this by my later statement about the roots style blowers.

Thought it was just self referential incoherence.

But do me a favor...the next time you drive it, at any speed...mash the pedal and let it go (one instant action) ... what does the engine do? Probably nothing...because thats what mine did. It took a good second and a half to downshift.
well you dont have to be an a$$ about it.
i know what i was talking about just used the wrong term. haha
street apps, turbo is far superior. full scale fast as you can possibly go in the quarter mile. a.k.a. rail cars/funny cars ..no they are just too fast as is and turbos do make them go crazy and all over the place. but there will be a day they will have tubro dragsters and they will smoke the compition.

We will have to agree to disagree. I can't say that I am able to agree with your statement about all these turbo rail/funny cars because I have rarely seen them at my track. I do see them at Englishtown more often, but still not what I consider "prime competition"
(roll races dont show jack btw. from a dig and lets keep it at the track, I like science rather than mysticisim) (also dont show me any more youtube videos or streetfire videos, because your never going to have an even compairison) Lag and finicky-ness were my only arguments, I never said anything about power. That is all. You proved the lag with the youtube, and I know the finicky-ness from personal experience thats good enough to support my oppinion to myself. Just stating my oppinion.

even at a dig it would smoke the KB cobra. we have two locally in town. stock 03 cobras(everything except the forced induction) one is a pullied KB the other is a hellion TT cobra. both at approx the same PSI rating. and actually his picture and build is featured on helions website. those two race each other all the time. TT always wins. dig or roll.
his videos are on youtube as well but i always have a hard time finding them. i'll see if i can.
and maybe the top fuel/ funny cars may never see a turbo day considering last year and this year they are shutting down at the 1000 foot mark. NHRA feels they are getting to fast. they are almost running the same times as early last year and they are shutting down at 1k foot mark and only running on 80%nitro. could you imagine the speeds if they still ran at 95% nitro on the 1320 today? you'd be up around the 360mph mark is my bet.
