pulley clearance
How close is too close between the Waterpump pulley and the Crank pulley? When I bought my stang it had a v-belt setup on it so I decided to swap to serpentine belt with junkyard parts. I had to buy a remanned waterpump because the old one had too long of a neck on it. Now that I am starting to put things back together I am just "mocking it up" on the engine. Anyways long story short, the crank and waterpump pulley have about 1/4" or less of clearance between them. The only accessories I am running are Alt. PS and waterpump. Should I just switch to electric waterpump and keep everything else the same? I got pics if anyone needs to see them. Thanks in advance for the help.
Before I had my electric water pump I ran the same set up, and it was the same story, and about a 1/4" gap. It's alright as long as it stays that way. Take note that a new belt will stretch and if it's a **** hair too long it will stretch and touch, took me two belts to get it right... Thankfully Napa took it back even though I had ran it for an afternoon.
hmm... you guys are smart, thanks smart guys, I dont know how I would work on the stang without you!!! Whoo hoo Im gonna be driving soon. Im probably gonna get an E waterpump as soon as taxes come in

adding an electric waterpump and fan really helps cleans up the engine bay IMO, especially with our crowded 302's. I know I was real satisfied with the outcome.
