When you are talking shop to one of your buddies or to some guy/girl on the street or show or strip. You talk back and fourth, eventually the subject of how much horsepower is brought up. They say xxx hp , you ask, is that to the tires or flywheel hp. Some people say crank hp or base hp. I have been around cars, speed shops and old grouchy *** mechanics all my life. There is not much lingo I haven't heard that applies to a car or it's drivetrain. I just saw how Portmaster was singled out for using the abbreviation of FWHP and how he was referred to as being stupid. The man obviously is no where near stupid, and generally applies good advice to most of the post on this website. I know most all of us men do stupid things and need adult supervision sometimes.lol I understood clearly what he was talking about when he used fwhp and it looks like you did to. But you took it upon yourself to try and correct something that didn't need to be corrected. Further letting me know what kind of attitude you carry yourself in while browsing this forum.

1. well, S/S has never been mr rogers neighborhood, so thicken ur skin a little. alot of the time we dont have the time or energy to be all nicey nice in posts.

2. yes, we ask "is it flywheel", but when he said fwhp, i sincerely thought he was saying front wheel (for the record, i absentmindedly just typed fwhp again and said the words in my mind). while we say flywheel when we talk, ive never before just now seen anyone post flywheel as fwhp, it ALWAYS means front wheel. not doggin anyone. just make sure u relearn the lingo because anywhere else u go if u use fwhp people assume the front wheels.
and again for the record, the b in bhp doesnt stand for base. it stands for "brake", the "power at the brake" is the power at the shaft for an engine dyno, although i havent actually seen nor operated an engine dyno in person so i cant tell you exactly what.

3. I didnt say he is stupid. using terms like that sounds very very, oh so very ignorant on the subject. its like going into the FI sections and uttering the word NAWS. go give it a try, and see if you get ANY reasonable answers from those guys. ill wait.

ok, i guess waiting on a forum can be done without actual pauses... but u get my point. His info was wrong enough that I could have seriously ripped him a new *** and nobody would have batted an eye. we do it quite often in this section, especially in ls1 threads. but i gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he had been mislead. he types intelligently enough, so were not calling anyones competency into question here. but it doesnt change the incorrect-osity (freshly coined, btw) of his statements. all the same, i can tell he was trying to be helpful, and i should reiterate, i had no idea he meant flywheel. in fact my first thought as to an explanation was that he recently came from the import world and was just used to typing fwhp instead of rwhp.

alright i went back to re-read my post to be sure.... I do have a tendancy... and somewhat of a reputation.. for being a little harsh on these.. but seriously hellride, for a guy with such an imposing name u sound a little like a ninny.

my response to portmaster was pretty benign. I dont think portmaster will start crying over a "wtf, ", i would hope he takes it in stride as it was meant to be taken.

i didnt really get started until responding to you and your comment... um... something about attitude, i dunno, i was skimming.
ur going to have to show me how " wtf " implies that he is stupid... or:
take the info, get over the 3 letter abbreviation and smiley, and lets get on with this. I still want to know more about the cars in question

I didn't take any offense to it believe me. I just see people on here alot of the time jump on people with a vengeance as such like they were just caught raping there own mothers. I'm not the biggest or meanest guy on the internet, but i can hold my own. I'm not into E-Fights or any of that childish crap either. I just like hanging out on this forum because of all of the vast problems that is brought up and resolved. I like reading and learning about other peoples cars set ups. Just see alot of bashing on here that is not needed. That's all I was saying. And your other long post with all the gap in it, yeah that is the uncalled for garbage that isn't needed. But bring on the hate mail and the bashing, I don't mind.

ull be ok big guy.
and so will portmaster. i didnt realized the confused smiley was so offensive to people it wasnt directed at, nor did i realize it was such unnecessary bashing considering 99.99% of that first post was nothing but technical. u decided to focus on 2 words.

^^^^^^ no problem I just would rather stop any potential stuff before it gets that way, the NET is so 1 dimentional that the slightest key stroke in the wrong tense gets a persons panties in a wad , but I do appreciate your understanding...carry on
