What is the amperage of a stock 87 5.0 alternator? I'm getting some subs for my car and I heard it is better to invest in a alternator than a capacitor. What alternator should I upgrade to?

 

i'm using a 3g 150 amp to run my 500 watt x4 amp; along with just the car itself. made quite an overall difference. i'd go a minimum of 130 amp. got mine off e-bay for 100 bucks including shipping

i have a 75amp on my 87 but its off a 93 4cyl

 

stocker is 75 amp. you'll wanna upgrade alt(like said above i also recommend 130+) and grounds/power wires. including engine to ground(1awg), batt to ground(1awg), alt(4awg) power and ground your alt(4-2 awg) to so you dont burn it up prematurely.

 

perform a 3g alt upgrade, it's your most cost effective alternative

 

i missed the alternator ground when i did my upgrade. where's the best place to do this? meaning where to hook wire up to alt, and then to chassis?
