Default Thoughts ?

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Input ?

And, it seems most cost with a gasket. Should I just use the gasket, or should I put some right stuff on the cover, then put the gasket on that ?

Or should I toss the gasket, put the right stuff on the cover and seal it ?

I'd use a rear girdle cover instead of that, as for cover, you can do either, with or without sealer on the gasket, or just use sealer and no gasket, i'VE DONE IT BOTH WAYS BEFORE

Personally I would like to just use the gasket with nothing else, obviously that'd be the most simple and easy way of going about it, but I also want it to seal well, so if the gaskets are crap, I would like to know as I only want to do this once.

Races are on the 25, don't think I'm running, but the car is going to be there.

EDIT: April 25, not this must.

I've never used a gasket nor have ever seen any one use one. For some extra cash you could get a girdle cover.

Those girdles are pissing me off.

I've rebuilt a Chevy 350, and I'm twin turboing it myself. And yet I'm second guessing putting those damn support studs in for the girdles....

I used a gasket that came w/ my cover when Mike and I did the gears. Trick flow cover, no issues

Alright then a couple more question.

pro, when you guys did your cover, did you just use the gasket alone ? and thats holding up fine ?

second, if I get a girdle, would I be ok installing the cover torquing it down, then screwing in the support studs, and only going until they touch the caps ?

third, I need to seal the threads on the studs right ? suggestions ?

and last, on the trick flow and ford racing ones, they have a drain and a fill plug, where do you fill up the girdles at ? The fill plug, or the fill plug on top of diff itself ? It seems if you fill it from the cover it obviously would hold less fluid. Also, whats better, the trick flow or ford racing one?

Yeah, just the gasket

Install the cover to torque specs, then I think the girdle bolts were like 10 ft#'s

Yes, seal the girdle bolt threads from the inside, mock up the cover so the bolts will just be touching the caps, then add the thread sealer

I used the top fill hole of the cover

As far as the cover, matter of preference I guess. Mike had the trickflo and was happy w/ it. So I bought that one.

your beating yourself up to much over the 10 ft lbs that those studs are putting on the caps, it won't harm them, if it did, I'd of had bearing failure awhile ago.as well as others who use such products, follow instructions and be on your way with the rearend girdle
