Kweb, if the OP is stock then the Vortech kit will work with nothing more. Although I would recommend upgraded injectors to be safe, they are not neccessary on a stock 5.0 with Vortech, PROVIDED he has an FMU. You are not stock, so obviously you'd need bigger injectors. But you think adding a SC is the hardest thing? I actually thought it was really easy. You just have to get your tune dialed in and you'll be fine. I wish you had a Tweecer so I could send you some of my base tunes to get you started, versus having to start from scratch. The hardest thing for me was taking out my transmission twice and installing a cam within two months, all to solve a stupid problem. These cars of ours......

Would I need to buy a tuner or can the shop just tune it for me?

Tell you what, you buy my stang from me for 2500 bucks and you can hack at all the goodies installed:

Gt40 upper and lower, GT40 Heads, (arent those all the same thing?) windsor headers, short throw shift kit, borla exhaust, ACCEL 300+ ignition system, E303 cam, Brake booster controller, All wheel disc brakes, Pioneer something reciever, subframe connectors, sway bars front and back, all parts necessary to run a supercharger 'cept the charger, battery relocator kit, some controller of which I have no idea what for and prolly a bunch of other stuff that I haven't yet identified. This car was bought from someone who built it for competition.

All that crap should have you well in the 13's. Whaddya say?!

j/k btw... unless you are interested...

Some ideas, and something to consider. Most mods are meant to compliment other mods. While an 8# supercharger is great, it will not be all that great with stock intake, stock exhaust, stock everything, etc.

When you put together a car you plan on keeping or keep building on, you should start with some mods that will benefit you as you go.

Gears would be a great start 3.73's would be sweet.
Exhaust, go for a nice set of headers, and high flowing X-Pipe, drop the cats if you can. At this point you can also pull the smog pump which will free up some HP as well by running a shorter belt. Need the A/C ? If not, pull that as well, and you can run a shorter belt and remove some weight from the car.

At this point you should have about $1,000 left depending on if you do the work or not. You could go with a nitrous kit, and upgrade the fuel pump, and so forth. Or find a set of used GT40 heads and Explorer intake.

Build your car from the back to the front. Rear gears, trac loc overhaul, upgrade the rear suspension, make sure the clutch is in good shape, good shifter, subframe connectors and a good set of drag radials. You'll be shocked how many big power cars you can take out with a low power well set up car over a big hp and poorly set-up car
