Default My 88 LX Progress

Hey Guys

A little about my self and my car:

My names Josh. Im new to the forums and pretty much new to cars! Im 18 years old and just bought my second car ever. My first car was a 1992 Honda Prelude 2.2L Automatic. My second car but FIRST REAL CAR: Is a 1988 5.0L LX 5 Speed.

I bought the car for 1700 CAD. Running and everything on May 6, 2009.

Im gonna be working on the car as much as possible and plan on taking pictures and posting them on here for you all to see what im doing :P

Its not going to be very big changes at first due to my lack of money and knowledge in cars but in time i will get there!

Well here it goes:

This is the way the car looked when i picked it up and brought it home:

I bet some compound would bring out some life out of that paint and then wax it.. Itll probably shine pretty good. Engine bay has potential to look nice as well with some nice cleaning.

Car looks alot better then i expected it to be.. especially for 1700 bucks. Sure beats that white GT you were going after. lol

Alright guys check out what iv done with the interior. Took me like 6 hours yesterday!

I stripped every piece and pretty much scrubbed the life back into this baby. I took out the old cd deck and tossed my moms old one in there ( better then the one it came with ). unbolted the seats and shampooed the carpets. In total this took me like 6 hours lol. I also had to fix my lock on the passenger door. The black **** unscrewed and fell into the door. Hooked up my dash speakers. Here it is:

Now that the interior is complete im gonna start working on the engine bay! which is going to be very dirty..

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how i should go about getting my engine bay as clean as possible without ruining anything? and what products i should use if any? Degreaser maybe?

What you do with the engine is let it warm up for a few mins.. Turn off and let it sit for a couple mins.. Then spray "engine bright degreaser" all over the sides and all the dirty spots.. .. Use like the whole can.. Then let the stuff sit for about 15 mins so it soaks into the dirt.. Then scrub around with a scrub brush or something and carefully hose off the stuff. If you did that a couple times itll look nice. You can repaint some of the pieces on it too.

The interior looks great.. Alittle work can go a long ways. With the rust on the exterior.. you can sand it down and primer it and get some touch up paint in a can and spray over the primer.
