How long have you been driving the car? What do you feel about it needs to improve? Don't buy mods for the sake of buying mods if you are on a budget. Evaluate where you think the car needs to be better (suspension, power, wheels, whatever) and improve that aspect of the car.

i can't remember what i paid for mine, but it was a private mechanic, not a shop. he done really good. if you can find a trustworthy one, that will save you sum. i was told by a shop that, gears, kit, labor, 870... um.. dont' think so, but they packed a warranty. so.. up to you man. definitly go gears. good luck on your search

If you don't mind searching through a junkyard, you may luck up on an Explorer 31 spline rear-end with 3.73 gears for a couple of hundred bucks or so.

Then of course, sell the one in your car now.

gears
got mine installed and trac loc rebuilt with parts for $560. the ford racing gear set was $190 and labor was only $170, the rest was lube, seals, clutch packs etc

looks like you gotta save up a little more

and a cai is a waste imo
