Is This Worth $350
Hey guys i found a 8.8 Rear end with 3.73 gears and the guy said he will give me drum to drum ( so the whole rear end including the brakes )
for
$ 350.00
Worth it?
i was kinda figuring like.. a rear end is gonna cost me around $200 anyways. and 3.73s are $150.00+ plus labour at a shop is gonna bring the bill up alot..
so why not buy a 8.8 with 3.73s already in it?

one thing about buying used parts is you don't really know the condition of them.
I found this earlier and am considering it just because I can probably cover myself with what I don't need.

try and get that cheaper. but i mean buyin a stock 8.8 will run about $100-150 then gear install and trac loc rebuild (clutch packs) ran me $560 parts and labor. and labor was only $170.

It was on there for two weeks at 300 and no one bought. I don't really need anything but the rearend but, I may just put him out of his misery and buy it if it is still there this weekend.
I would just be careful if you do it. I have seen a lot of people get screwed on rear ends being warped, broken or not having what they claimed.
If you do have to have some labor done, at least it is out of the car which should help in the cost because of the ease of installation.
I also forgot to mention about the 7.5 your friend has. I have a buddy that ran one a LONG time in a mustang with a 144 blower making 10lbs before he had any trouble. Like years with trips to the track too.
Also some of the explorers have 3.73s in them. That would cause you to have to do a wheel upgrade or change the axles though.

yeah im thinking i might just save the money and throw the 7.5 in there.. i cnt deside.. its just that i want 3.73s eventually. and i dont want 3.73s in a 7.5..
so maybe ill throw the 7.5 in there and wait till i find a better deal.

yeah man.. I heard that a 7.5 rear end is pretty weak and i wont beable to race around like i normally do.. Im not gonna lie i dont drive my car like a grandma lol. I launch at like every red light and smoke any ricer i can find so how will a 7.5 rear end hold up?
