Talking Im a happy little gear head. Trick Flow Heads.

Picked these up last night for $800.

They appear to be the "race" head, as they have no place for the EGR tube on the rear of them. they are also O-ringed. The guy told me the bowl's have been blended, but it doesn't really look like that to me.

Cant tell for sure what head they are. But I assume the "track heat" twisted wedge that's been O-ringed. The number "70054" is punched into the exhaust side of the head.... don't think thats a part number......

Let me know what you guy's think.

Intake runner

Exhaust runner

How's this look for a part's list to put these bad boy's on?

Summit 1.7 rockers

and felpro intake gaskets.

Let me know if ive missed anything

I'm going to have to delete my emission's stuff once i get these on. Dunno how that is going to work, being I have to pass emission's in January, but i wont have another test for two year's after that, so i might have to wait to install these head's until then

nice score... the porting looks good to me

as a rough guess... there is $300-$400 in port work, and then the springs are probably upgraded too. depending how long they were on the car b4 you got them, you might want new valve springs again, do a valve job too... they will tell you if you need springs when you get the valve job

if you get a trickflow cam.. you might need to go 1.6 on the rockers, call trickflow to be sure

No, no cam for now. Mainly for the fact that i dont wanna deal with pulling the waterpump!

They where ran for 10k mile's says the guy. he took them off for a better head...... a pair of X303's...... said it will make much more power with them....

Guy was a total goon. was trying to sell me these no name equal length header's telling me my car would make 50 horsepower off them, and how his X303's are 75 more horsepower over then trickflow's lol

So they where ported? I though it just looked like they where cleaned up a bit.

A valve job is when they just grind on the valves right? or what does that entail?

My buddy that knows a lot more then me about heads and the such said that there was no valve guide and everything seemed to be in good shape. He said that there probably isent any porting/bowl blending, it look's like the "clean up" that trick flow does themselves after casting.

so im unsure if they are ported or not, as i dont know what to look for.

I think you could find 13's off the bottle with just the heads. Don't be afraid of removing a water pump, no big deal, get a cam for that vert and 13's will be easy. Even if you do live on top of Everest.

its not removing it that's intimidating me. its snapping bolt's! lol.

Like i said in another thread, there was a notch fox with the trick flow top end running the same time's i am with 5 more MPH then me on street tire's. Found he had his timing at 10* so we bumped it to 15* and i told him to really drag out the clutch and he ran a 14.3 at 98mph. which was a full second quicker.

I trap 91mph currently.

I think with my car being better set up then his (he had stock suspention (had control arms), street tire's, and 2.73's) I think a 13.9 with just the head's isnt out of the question.

can someone explain to me what the significance of o-ringing a head is? and what all needs to be done? do you still use regular gaskets?
