Default 347 as dd? My random questions for the week!

* Sorry if this is in the wrong section *

So i usually post random shenanigans i think about getting myself into.

Im rocking a pretty solid 5.0 right now, but lets face it the day will come when she brutaly fails the compression test.

So id like to build up a engine for when this day comes so i can run a quick swap.

I was flipping through a 5.0 mag when i came across scat engine kits for a 302 -> 347.

I googled it a bit and found out that the damage the 347 can do is impressive if its done right.

My question to you is:

Would a 347 be dd able? or will i pay way to much in fuel?

Will all the sensors work ok, like will i have computer issues?

Due to the 347 in the 302 block will i burn oil after 10k as bad as everyone says?

Why havent i read that many posts about people doing this is its so awesome? ( wrong section possibility )

Like the bottom end kit was only like 1000 bucks?

im thinking :

then i need a block either new or bored .30
an oil pump
and oil pan
soo an other 1000

then heads and a cam 1500 ( gt40 or trick not really important atm )

upper and lower intake and throttle body 1000 ( match the heads probs )

fuel delivery and injectors 500

so $5000 ish over the next few years...

Any input on my crazy idea is accepted

thanks guys!

And then some...... you should be able to lecture all your buddies on multiple 347 builds and why you would and wouldn't go with a certain cam or head. Make sure you have searched our forum and and other good ones (sbftech.com) extensively before you pull the trigger. IMO talk to Woody at www.fordstrokers.com and he should be able to help you build a motor that fits your needs.

Ok thanks guys!

It seemed odd that there wasnt as much traffic about the topic on here.

So its not as easy at replacing the bottom end and adding the usually baddass 5.0 goodies up top?

Would gt40 heads be solid? or suffocate it ?

But yea i agree i was reading someone was pushing 28-hp with a 347 then switched the cam and heads and was close to 500

But there has to be more variation then just one companies heads and cam . .

i was trying to be differant haha

again thanks guys!

if you get a scat kit make sure you havethe crank checked. i bought a 331 kit and the crank had chatter marks in it from machining that u could only see under ultra violet light with dye. had to get a new crank.

Not if you want to go fast. TFS High Ports are a great head for a 347, combine that with a custom cam.

it's not that the traffic is low on this topic....quite the opposite, it has been covered numerous times, use the search function and see......no to gt-40's on a 347....why use 302 parts on a 347??.........28hp then 500 with head and cam swap??? = not!!!!!!lol typo??..........for a street 347 TFS FAST AS CAST heads or AFR 185'S ARE YOUR BEST BET for overall out of the box bolt on performance
