Default lol, looked over something stupid, fixed it, gained power.

Well when I bought this car it had a ton done to it already. Most mod's where "show" mods, as it use to be a show car. (lots of chrome and junk. Well the dizzy cap was bright blue when i bought the thing, and i figured it must be a performance piece. so i never messed with it. Nor the rotor.

Well Ive owned the car for 2 years now, and its gone from running mid 16's to mid 13's. I have some extra cash so while messing around on summit i ordered a MSD dizzy cap, and a OEM motorcraft rotor.

I pulled the blue cap off, and inspected the contacts and realized it was in MUCH MUCH worse condition then i realized, very burnt, and lots of build up (ill post a picture later) as i was looking close to the contacts I noticed that the dizzy cap was PAINTED blue....

well swapped out the old stuff for new.....

WOW. pretty damn noticeable difference! Its been raining all day, so first and second gear are useless, but i defiantly notice more torque. second gear breaks the tire's lose easier too it seems.

My reason posting this is just to admit my stupidity, but also to ask how much do you guys think this was kill power? Before i bought it, it was a full out show car, sold, then sat at dealerships for 2 years before i bought it.

So at a minimum, the dizzy cap is FOUR years old, probably the rotor too! How much was i losing/ how much power do you guys think i gained from swapping it out? Haven't been able to get a full pull yet, but will maybe tonight as its clearing up.

lol, i know, but didn't wanna **** you off with two new threads back to back, so i figured this one was closer to a "tech" related thread.

It's in that magical gray area between tech and general.

I don't care if you post 20 thread back to back, that's your right as long as they are in the right section and the cap isn't horrible, I've seen worse

I think you're grasping for power. Unless the car was misfiring, you weren't losing any power. What you see is carbon track A very common occurrence in ignition systems.

lol, yea, im power hungry. and with a low budget I tend to obsess over the little things.

Ive never personally seen one that burned up though. and there was a noticeable difference by the butt dyno.
