I couldnt find a direct answer to my question, so ill actually ask. I have an 89 GT vert. Being it is an 89, it has the ugly cheese grater tail lights. Can i just purchase LX tail lights and run em? I mean, is the wiring different or can i just install em plug and play and call em good?

You can get just the lens or the whole assembly and either one with fit without any modifications and the wiring is the same. Plug and play

Ill buy the lenses. Looks like ill need to buy some sealant tape too. hmmmm. Do the lenses on;y attached to the housing by the tape..or are there screws as well?

 

The lenses are held into place with sealant and some clips, there shouldn't be any screws involved.
Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about.

 

For what these things are worth used. I'd just get a used complete assembly and bolt them in your car. No wait, if it was me I'd leave the proper lights in the car.

The LX lenses will swap right into you GT housings with no modifications. If you do this KEEP you GT lenses. I've seen guys going the other way with these and putting the GT's back in,and now they're getting hard to find because everyone threw them away.
