I've had Mexicans pull up next to me and offer $900 for my fox while I filled it up with gas. Usually ends with them saying that's the best I could ask for and that they're work truck would beat mine. They then rev their truck and I usually reply back and leave them in tire smoke.

I have had one rich kid offere me 8k though. Really should've taken it but the car has sentimental value.

Here is some advice, regarding how to avoid the flakers.Make your ad solid, descriptive and mature; if you write your ad with the grammar level of the 12 year old, it will attract the suckers. This will not completely eliminate the flakers, but will greatly reduce their number. I write a long, descriptive ad with 3-5 intermissions in BOLD "no test drives without CASH/CASH only no checks or bull ****".

If I get a guy who shows up, looks at the car and asks for the drive...I ask "Show me the cash", if he says "No", I say "Bye".

someone tells me no check, i would tell them to go to hell. I am not driving 300 miles to look at a car only to see that it is a piece of **** and find out you only wanted me to pay in cash because you thought I was going to negotiate once I saw the piece of garbage that is being sold...even though I do pay in cash...

Well you wouldn't be buying cars from me then. You should be well aware that check takes time to clear. Someone shows up at your door on Saturday evening at 4PM writes you a check, takes the car and is gone; on Monday you take the check to the bank. Teller tells you that is invalid. Now you got no car, no money. At the same time you car is being sold in pieces on Ebay.

sure won't be, unless you drive from CA to me

that is a bit extreme but, you get my point. If someone wants to wait till the bankers check clears, that is up to them. I am not letting my title go until I have the cash. Plus a check leaves a paper trail where cash doesn't. If the car doesn't have a title, I wouldn't pay any other way than check.
