Default Painting Block

Okay so I know that this thread probably belongs in like general tech but I like you guys who hang out in this section anyway.

This weekend's project is painting the block bold red! We have it all stripped down and bare, just the block itself. Does anyone have any tips? I haven't done this before and I want it to look nice. And any tips for how to tape off the parts where gaskets and such go? I don't mean to sound stupid but I don't know if plain old painters tape will do the trick for getting along all these weird edges and if it will stick to the cast iron good enough?

ANY TIPS APPRECIATED!

paint it with a high temp paint for a base and I've used automotive single stage ppg paint on top of that with good results

when I did mine i just taped off everything, take your time and use a blade to cut the tape along all the edges. then i just sprayed it with rust reformer and then some engine enamel paint. came out nice.
