Default Brake Brackets

I have a few sets of Explorer rear disk brake brackets and was wondering if anyone used the Explorer brackets and 93 Cobra rear rotors to convert to rear disk. My current Mustang has no rear brakes on it now the guy who I bought it from wasn't kidding when he said it was a roller. I was also wondering if the right side axle shaft is the right length for a Fox since I have a few axleshafts and 31 spline carriers laying around too. I swapped alot of Explorer axles under Jeeps.

Sn-95 caliper brackets are different than cobra and mach 1 caliper brackets. The cobra/mach1 caliper brackets are larger to fit in a larger diameter rotor(11.65").

If the explorer uses regular sn-95 brakes then they will not allow fitment of the 11.65" cobra rotors.

That is why late model resto sells rear cobra brake upgrade kits... they have the larger bracket/rotor.

You must use the corresponding bracket with the caliper. Each is different for each setup. What rear end do you have under it right now?

Right now the car has a 7.5 but I have a Fox 8.8 in the bed of my truck and I have a bunch of Explorer 8.8 31 spline stuff and the brackets off the Explorer axles. As far as my mentioning of the Cobra rotors I referring to the 93 Cobra(4 lug) not the 94 and later Cobra.

Oh, I was referring to the 93 Cobra R. Those came with 5 lugs.

They came with the SN-95 brakes on them. I guess I'll just order a rotor for a 93 Cobra and see how it works out since the axle is not under the car yet.

OK the Explorer axle shafts are way wrong for a Fox Mustang 8.8 the drivers side is 1.5-2" longer and the right side is about 1-1.5" too short. Oh well I got a set of brake brackets I'm going to try on it, one set is of a Crown Vic the other is from a Explorer they almost look the same but notice slight differences in them. For rotors I have a set of Crown Vic or Explorer rotors I'm going to re-drill. Then I'll install my 3.73's then install it under the car and hopefully I will have most of the parts to start putting this car back together.
