Question 7.5 to 8.8 swap on 1989 coupe

Hi everyone I'm john, new member but not new to mustangs. I have an '89 GT I have owned since I was 18yrs old. Still runs good as new! (HARD TO KILL THAT 5.0!) I also have an '88 Ranger, GT40, corba motor,9 inch narrowed rear and is just so much fun to drive! First ride was a '72 ford F100 pickup, V8, 3 on the tree, so ford man by heart. Hope not TMI but wanted to introduce myself. So too the question, I recently purchuse a '89 coupe ( 4 banger) and wanted to know where I could find link or detail instructions on 7.5 to 8.8 swap? Hope I'm in the right section this time?

unbolt 7.5 bolt in 8.8 you might need to adapt or swap over the hard line on the rear axle if they are different hooking up to the flex line etc... and disconnect the parking brake cables but basically its a drop in swap

Thanks, the main thing I was thinking of does the shocks and quads all have the same brackets to hook too. If any welding or fab work have to be considered. I haven't looked under my gt to see if there is a difference. I figured maybe someone on here had installed one theirselves?

the holes for the bolt on brackets for the quad shocks should be predrilled on a 4 cyl model/body, ford used self tapping bolts to afix in the holes, at least they were on my 92 4cyl project, 7.5 to 8.8. is a direct swap

Good time to think about some lower control arms, and adjustable struts while you're in there. Just a thought, then you probably won't need quad shocks! Again, just a thought..

Is there any science to the pre-drilling as far as location? Is there spots to look for or to measure from to align the brackets in the right location?
